Europe : Liverpool (2008)

After pretty much settling in Manchester for a month, we decided to take a little short break to it nearest neighboring city, Liverpool. Bought the train tickets online at only £12.00 return (30% discounts with young person travel card). Any train available for the day with exceptions during peak-hour. Reached Piccadilly train station by tram from Eccles, waited for awhile before boarding on the train to Liverpool Lime Street Station. Getting pretty much excited as it was my first trip in the UK with my first paycheck from Odeon!
The journey took us less than an hour to reached. It was pretty much gloomy, as it rains earlier (another wet part of UK). We walked around few places before check-in to our hostel. We visited the St.George's Hall, Empire Theater, Walker Art Gallery (just looking around, pretending to understand 'them') & Liverpool Museum. Right after 2pm we walked towards the International Inn Hostel somewhere located on the hills part of Liverpool. Quite a walk though! We booked a 5-bedded dorm en-suite through hostelworld.com. It has a kitchen with free breakfast & equipment for cooking your own food. It also has a common room with tv, DVD's and comfy nice sofa's. Still remember the other two Chinese girls sharing our room. They were from the states, and were 18 years old on a big Europe adventure..
Heads out to get some food, ordered just simple 15'' margarita pizza for both of us. Next stop is the big Catholic church situated on the end of the hill road. One of the highest point in Liverpool. This picture was taken outside the Catholic church and on the other end, it was the Gothic church (claim to be the biggest Gothic church in whole of Europe). The wind was very much strong..Walking from the Catholic church towards the Gothic church, we found a very weird interesting monument of CASE!
One of it was belong to Paul McCartney of The Beatles. I cant remember which was it!
The gothic church was huge with plenty of sculpture by the wall. The coloured window art was beautiful and it has an impressive high ceiling. Just walk through all the opened area and enjoyed looking at all its art & sculpture. As night fall, all the clubs along our hostel street are now open for business. 9pm and it wasn't really dark yet. Heading back to our pad to crash as tomorrow we will be living the Beatles moment.

Re-visiting the Beatles era.
Beatles was always been my favourite British band. It's a must to visit the legendary museum while in Liverpool. Bad weather in the morning, heavy rain. Both of us had to walk under the pouring rain (with umbrella & jackets of course). Bought the Beatles entrance tickets for £12.50 and we spent almost 2hours in the museum (for copyright reason, no photos were allowed to be taken). The museum ended with a biography of late John Lennon (his famous songs : Imagine being played in the area). Still raining outside. Spend the rest of our day by the Albert Dock. Had lunch at McDonald's and I'm actually having difficult times understand the local dialects. The girl serving me looks a bit pissed off after I had her repeating the drinks menu 3x. She was saying "ribena, bottle water or juice" but what i heard was "yadda yadda yadda??"
Waited for the train, and we are on our way back to good ol' Manchester. Haven't got the chance to visit the Liverpool football stadium. It was undergoing a renovation at the moment I visited Liverpool.
