Island Escape : Big Perhentian Island

It was middle of October 2012, and Im heading to one of the beautiful island in east coast of Malaysia. Monsoon season is approaching very soon, and I had my one last island escape before the island is officially close due to the monsoon.

My eyes keep looking at the watch, 0700hours. It state there boarding time is 0730hours. Im having an early lavish breakfast in Coffee Bean LCCT. Still waiting for my other travelling buddy to arrived. Last call for AK5280, arriving in KBR. Settled in my seat by the window, perfect to lean my head for a quick nap. LCCT to KBR only takes roughly about 50minutes. The weather was perfect to start my quick island getaway, as i hope...

Reach KBR airport and we hoped on a taxi to Besut Jetty. The taxi stand charged us RM78 per car one way, which is fair enough we got a nice Nissan Sentra to settled with. After an hour, we arrived at the small little pekan Besut. Paid all the booking outstanding with Coco Hut and head to the famous nasi dagang near to jetty. Its simply delicious and incredible cheap!! We just have to pre-pack few to bring into the awesome island (where food prices are over the top!)

This is my 4th stay on a different beach in Perhentian Island. Normally i would stay over in Long beach, but the development & urban planning has wrecked the awesome beachfront. Nothing compare to 10yrs ago beauty. Coco Hut in Big Perhentian Island gonna be my home for the next 3night! The resort has a little super cozy beachfront with lots of coconut tree and awesome view ahead. 

First night arrangement, we stayed in a beachview cabin, which we later changed to gardenview cabin (just a row behind beachview). The gardenview room has 2xdouble bed spacious enough for 4pax. The resort restaurant food was delicious (forget about the price). They serve free breakfast (inclusive), ala carte lunch and BBQ dinner. Coco Hut provide 24hours electricity (not all chalet in Perhentian does).

Just beside Coco Hut, its the Marine Park office with coral garden perfect for snorkelling and shore dive. I enjoyed my time snorkelling there (no dive cause was on short budget). Plenty of parrot fish, clownfish, three-stripe damselfish to name afew. Spend few hours underwater on the perfect visibilty day. The next day, we intended to take another dip around the coral park. Unfortunately, the sea water was polluted with drifted sticky crude oil! My rashguard & hair caught some of the oil, and it was one unexpected experience! Had to use cooking oil and plenty of water to reduce the harsh chemical. I cant think of how a person could just dumped crude oil into the ocean. 

As I mention before, the food prices here are frankly over the top! Be sure to bring lots of cash because there is no ATM on either of the island. Taxi service are at outrages price, which bring to conclusion not to go over to Long beach for night party. I can be broke like berok before the holiday even ends~~

Overall, the weather was perfect. Slight rain at night. The ppl that came on this trip was simply awesome! Thank you for celebrating my new age series on this lovely island. Looking forward for more travelling with uols.
