It was built in 1883 with the cost of a whooping £37,929 (What would that figure cost these days?) Its a long way up to the lighthouse. Stairs made from tar and dirt. 3 gazebo's to act as your pit stop. Much challenging as it requires more energy to reach the top of the hill. Once you reach the top, you'll see such a magnificent view. There is no cheat code available to get up the hill. Unless you owned a helicopter. - Kerachut Beach (3.5km from the entrance)
Its a bit challenging than going to Monkey Beach. In order to reach there, you will need to hike up the hill and down on the other side. There are few interesting sign-age along the way to distract you away from the crazy steps up the hill. Its worth the climb! Another white sandy beach greeted you as cross the bridge. The Meromitic Lake is situated here, and only on certain time of the year the lake will be filled with salt & fresh water. The turtle conservative center is located here as well (nestling place for green turtles [april - august] and olive-ridley [sept - feb]). Yes, baby turtles! Campsites available, but are not allowed to camp on the beach. Amenities such as shower, toilets & prayer room are available here. Best spot for sunsets.
