Island Escape : Tioman

It was almost midnight when we drove off from Kota Warisan, Sepang heading towards Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan. Overnight in Kuala Pilah residence courtesy of Scubatex owner, abg Mat. After Subuh prayer, we hit the road towards Bandar Tun Abdul Razak - Muadzam Shah - Tanjong Gemok jetty. Little less than 3hour we reached Tanjong Gemok cowboy town. Had the delicious nasi lemak and kopi-o for breakfast.
There a parking available within the jetty area, as little as RM10 pernight. Here, the ferry schedule is limited (perhaps 2x a day). Our ferry ETD 1100hours, but the ATD was merely 30minutes late. You need a boarding pass to alight (obviously these had been recycled for countless of times). First rule, no one was allowed to be on the deck (due to safety reason impose by the authorities). Onboard and had time to sleep before reaching the island, the weather does not look good after all.
My home for the next 3D2N is Damai Resort kg. Genting, Tioman Island about 5minutes walking from the pier. settled in my room which had two queen bed for 4pax. Despite of the bad weather, we start to assemble our diving gears and head towards shore - shore dive for a start. Visibility was bad, and so is my bouyancy (my last dive was almost a yr ago, in Mabul). The day ended short as nothing much to be done after dinner time.
Kg Genting is definitely a more peaceful area, with only one beach bar with very few ppl hanging outs. Both of us decide to go for a walk as far as the trail goes. In the dark we walked past a very old cemetry belong to Tun Mohamad b Tun Abdul Majid, the fourth Bendahara Pahang (may you rest in peace).
2nd day, the weather favor upon us. It was lovely, blue sky, white spotted clouds everywhere and the water visibility was simply awesome. Im schedule for 2 dives depending on the weather. We had our first dive in Renggis site and it was awesome (two thumbs up!). Back to resort for lunch and next off to Soyak site later. The weather flicked and rains come. We waited (due to some technical glitches) till the weather and the choppy water clams.
On my final day in Tioman, I get to witness the beautiful splendid scenery that Tioman had been hiding from me. Hate it that I had to leave this island on a jaw-dropping beautiful day
Will definitely give Tioman a visit again soon. Shall dive and rock climbing.
Honestly, this is my first time been to Tioman Island and diving is one bloody expensive hobby~~
RM70 : return ferry ex-tanjong gemok
RM460 : 3D2N full board + 3 dives
RM20 : 2N car park at Tg Gemok Pier
There is one local stall that serve hot goreng pisang at night, near to Genting Bayu chalet.

Bad weather can't be helped. But it does look like a pretty much laid back and peaceful place.
